Sod can be installed during most of the year in North Alabama, but spring and fall generally offer the best conditions for root establishment. Summer installations are also successful when proper watering is maintained during the early establishment period.
Proper preparation is critical. We handle grading, leveling, and soil conditioning as part of the installation process to ensure good drainage and strong root contact. Skipping preparation is one of the most common reasons sod fails.
Most sod begins rooting within the first two weeks when watered correctly. Full establishment typically takes several weeks, depending on weather, soil conditions, and maintenance during the early stages.
